Handcrafted Camel Skin Table Lamp | Whirling Dervish, Boho Decor
🐪 The Story Behind the Craft
These lamps are made using a centuries-old camel skin craft tradition from Multan, Pakistan. The week's long process involves carefully preparing natural camel skin, shaping it by hand, and painting detailed patterns that come to life when illuminated. These lamps are hand painted using a naqashi painting technique that goes back 900 years.
Today, this traditional craft is slowly disappearing as fewer artisans continue the practice. I source these lamps directly from skilled makers in Multan, paying a fair price for their work and helping support the continuation of this art form. Each purchase plays a small part in keeping this heritage alive.
